Nodular Iron SG APe 771-02

SG APe 771-02 is an alloyed nodular iron with a very high tensile strength. The alloying material Cu and Mn in combination with heat treatment will give the material a very high structural strength. The heat treatment can be flame, induction or laser hardening. The surface of the component is rapidly heated to at least 900 C and immediately quenched with water. This transformation (austenite to marten site) hardening treatment can produce a hardened zone to a depth of 4 mm with a hardness of 56 +/- 2 HRc. The rest of the material has a hardness of 240-280 HB.
This material is used for press tools within the automotive industries. The material has been tested for 1 million compressions. Other applications for the material are i.e. cylinder lining, valve seat and camshafts.
Tensile strength Rp0,2: 440-640 N/mm
